The Directorate of Education has specified age criteria for admission to entry-level classes. This age criterion for Nursery School Admissions in Delhi has been implemented as an attempt to ensure a balance of students having the same level of brain growth.

The DoE has also specified that a 30-day age relaxation is applicable on both the upper and lower age limits. For example, a child aged 2 years 11 months or 4 years 1 month is also eligible for admission to class Nursery even though the specified age limit is 3 to 4 years.

The admission season that we have been talking about focuses on the entry-level classes, that is, classes Nursery, KG and 1.
For your child to be eligible for KG admission in Delhi , you need to ensure that he/she is 4-5 years old, with an age relaxation of 30 days applicable on both the lower and upper age limits.
Another entry-level class, the 1st class age limit in Delhi is 5-6 years old. That is, the minimum age for 1st class admission is 5 years old, while the upper limit is 6 years.
Like pre-nursery and KG admission in Delhi, the 30-day age relaxation is applicable for those applying for admission to class 1 as well.
This means that a child aged 4 years and 11 months and even 5 years and 1 month can also 1st class admission in Delhi .
Once the applications are in, the school administration works on releasing admission lists carrying the names of students who are to go on and complete the admission process. This time, the first admission list will be out by January 12th.
In case your child’s name makes it to the first list, you need to prepare yourself for the Delhi nursery admission process. The first step here is to ensure you have all your documents ready and at hand, including photocopies.
